20 Photos to Inspire You to Visit Eibsee Lake in Bavaria

Eibsee Lake

Okay, okay.  We have a thing for aqua blue lakes.

Coming from Tennessee where our rivers are brown and lakes are polluted with who knows what, I've really come to appreciate the aqua blue waters in Europe.

I still can remember so vividly when we first saw a clear, light blue river in France a few months ago.  Both mine and Michael's jaws dropped and we just couldn't believe our eyes. Then in Austria we experienced our first, aqua lake outside of Hohe Salve at Hintersteinersee. So gorgeous!

So rewind to a few weeks ago when we were visiting Munich and we knew we had to experience a bit of the beauty that southern Germany offers.  Just a little over an hour drive south of Munich you'll find the beautiful Eibsee Lake in Bavaria near Garmisch and Zugspitze Mountain.  If you're visiting Munich for a few days or in the area this should really be at the top of your list on places to see.

It's super easy to find and parking is available right outside the lake. With many walking trails, hiking, horseback riding, and water activities like paddle boarding and canoeing, you could spend a full day at Eibsee Lake.

We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant that sits directly on the water and watched a few paddle boarders explore the water.  On our drive down the mountain all the cows were out and their babies, so of course we had to stop to visit with them! Needless to say, it was a relaxing day and I can highly recommend a visit to Eibsee Lake if you're looking for a day trip outside of the city.

Below are 20 photos to inspire you, hope you enjoy!
